It has been a while since we had a show & tell of UZIT brand T206's. The UZIT branded T206 cards were printed at the tail-end
of the T206 press runs in the Spring of 1911. Surveys have indicated that several of the 53 known T206 subjects with the UZIT back appear more often than the others. For example, at least 5 samples of the following subjects have been confirmed while all other UZIT cards typically range from 1 to 3 samples...... Cobb (bat off shoulder) Jennings (both hands) Latham Wagner (bat on right shoulder) If you know of more, please add them to this list ? OK....I will begin this show with the two remaining UZIT's in my collection. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() P.S.....regarding Leon's current POLL...." T206 backs will continue to go up? " Certainly in the near future, BROAD LEAF 350 & 460, DRUM, brown & red HINDU, black & brown LENOX, and UZIT, will continue to increase in value due to the law of "supply vs demand". However, I voted "Don't know" simply because too many factors are in play here. Having said that, at the Ft. Washington Show (circa 2006), I sold this Vg card of Wiltse (portrait with cap)/UZIT for about $600. Subsequently, this exact card went for $1700+ in Barry Sloate's November 2008 auction. It goes without saying, these gems are certainly still climbing in value. ![]() Hey guys....why not proudly display your UZIT cards here and let's see how many we can come up with ? This is the only one I ever owned (and just for a brief moment). It was in with a big lot I bought on Ebay in 2005. I 'allocated' a cost of $11 to it and sold it within a week for $114. Thought it was a home run... now I'm not so sure.

Hi Ted- i think i was the one who got that Uzit (Wiltse) from you! i then sold it thru Barry...they seemed (at one point) a little underrated, but are now clearly right at the top of the heap.
Here's my current Uzit (thanks to Scott L). it's one of the boldest examples i've ever seen. the ink is very dark & saturated. Last edited by MVSNYC; 10-30-2011 at 11:15 PM. |

Simply stated...... Since 34 of the 46 subjects in the 460-Only series have been confirmed with the LENOX back.....that leaves 12 subjects that are found with the red HINDU back (and indeed have been confirmed). Remember the mutual exclusivity that exists between LENOX and red HINDU in this series. Therefore, since Geyer & Sheckard have been confirmed with the UZIT back there is a good likelihood that the remaining 10 will eventually be found with the UZIT back. ![]() Quote:
Some red Hindu's are possible with Lenox. Some red Hindu's are not possible with Lenox. Some Lenox are possible with red Hindu. Some Lenox are not possible with red Hindu. There are very important subsets within the 460 Series printings but it's not as simple as applying mutual exclusivity. The first printing of red Hindu's consisted of only subjects from the 350-460 group and the super prints however the second printing was a mixture of 350-460 and the twelve 460 Only subjects. Careful examination of which subjects and when were included in these print runs, and those that were included or excluded in the Uzit print run, show that the two back groups were printed at different times and have no connection with mutual exclusivity. Breaking down the back groups into subsets is merely ignoring conflicting data to achieve a desired result that isn't accurate. Last edited by Abravefan11; 11-02-2011 at 05:55 AM. |
