Currently there are 2 1934 Goudey Lefty Grove cards graded by PSA on ebay.
One is a PSA 3 (707 sportcards) going for $330 with a best offer. http://cgi.ebay.com/1934-Goudey-19-L...item1e64a27f10 The other one is PSA 6 with BIN of $350. http://cgi.ebay.com/1934-GOUDEY-19-L...item2eb612c27f Obviously, the PSA 3 has much better centering. Does the 6 have much better color or is is just the quality of the scan? Thoughts? What would you do if you were thinking about picking up this card? Thanks, Jeff |

I would expect almost everyone to pick the "6" except for maybe 707. What I am hoping for is discussion on the centering and other traits of each card and how those traits reflect the asking price.
Anything think $350 for the "6" is a decent price? Or is the centering too much of an issue? |

The 3 is overpriced and the centering on the 6 would cause me to pass on it. But I'm a centering nut myself. Those that prefer sharp corners over centering may like the 6. Bottom line is your preferences. If you like the card then go for it. Buy what you will enjoy and you will be happy. Good luck.

I see where you're trying to go with the discussion here, however......The cards themselves aren't contributing much to the apparent price distortion. The noise in the price is because the 3 is being sold by Levi, who always seeks grossly inflated prices for his cards.

The 6 is a better deal, considering the prices here. The 3 is over-priced for sure, so I wouldn't pick that one. The 6 is about right in price, although it may be a smidge on the high side. I would say between $300 and $330 for a 6. So $350 is just a little higher than that range.
The 6 bothers me because of the centering and the 2 or 3 "spots" on the front. There is a dark spot to the right of Lefty's left shoulder that draws my attention. I don't like that spot. There is also another less obvious brown spot to the right and above the black spot that is also distracting. There is a third spot to the left and below the "R" in "Robert" which also bothers me a little. If I was looking for ONE Lefty Grove card to have in my collection, I would choose NEITHER of these cards and wait for another one to come along. The 1934 Goudeys are easy to find so there is no reason to rush to a purchase just because the card happens to be available at a decent price. Be patient. I think another better card will come along.

I honestly don't know why centering bothers so many. If it was caused by the factory and unaffected by those who collected it then why should it matter?

Here is another '34 Goudey Grove by 707. Asking price is $860 for a PSA 6. I does have better centering than the PSA 6 for $350, but $510 better? Seriously? Would anyone who isn't extremly wealthy actually pay anywhere close to $860 for this grade? |
