Default FWIW -- SGC x-over to PSA

I recently got an SGC 86 1941 Play Ball Pee Wee Reese. I am doing my set under PSA, so I sent it in to PSA for x-over, in the SGC holder, requesting a minimum grade of PSA 7 NQ. It was rejected by PSA for not meeting the minimum grade. OK, I cracked it out of the SGC 86 holder and submitted it raw, and, lo and behold, it just popped as a PSA 7 NQ.

I'm just sayin' ....

I have to agree with you on this one....lame. Ya know, I called PSA and I was like, hey, with your set registry, why not let people at least present their other cards (SGC, specifically) and make your registry a TRUE representation of what people have for collecting. Like Progressive does with insurance, show quotes from ALL insurers thereby making your website the "go-to" registry regardless of where it was graded (with major graders, at least, SGC, Beckett)

Oh my, you should have heard the attitude I got. It was like the "we're #1 so why should we entertain that"? Geez. So much for lateral thinking.

Haha! This is the kind of information I was looking for. I was about to send in a few cards to crossover, and thought twice about it....

I figured they'd use it as an opportunity to be snobby - proving that they are "tougher" graders than the other tpgs!

A friend on NET54 helped me get wise. I just got done spending 25 minutes cracking them out.

When the SGC graded card comes back EOT from PSA, and then you send it back to SGC and then THEY say it is trimmed, what happens then?????

Well if it was a high dollar card I might think about suing them. They say they only guarantee the card while it's in the SGC holder, but that doesn't really hold much weight. You hopefully may also be a little more hesitant to crack open SGC holders in the future.

Robby....then I mail them back their claim of it trimmed with their ORIGINAL slab that had it graded NQ (and why not cc PSA and Beckett on the letter) and ask them to "explain this one..." Heh...

I know of other people in this same situation. SGC said, "We only guarantee it when it is in the holder. If it is taken out of the holder, that guarantee is voided." You ought to just keep the case as I would think it would sell for a little more that out.

If you are rich and an optimist, you keep playing submission roulette until you hit. Otherwise, you're screwed, have left a lot of coin on the table and are holding a card virtually worthless. This happened to me w/ a very desirable rc. I've learned since to buy the card you want in the holder you want and avoid playing the nonsensical, depressing XO game.
