Don't believe the autograph was written by Mickey Mantle.

What is the proof? what do you look for ? how do you tell ? It has an authenticity sticker on it from Cals Sports and it is an Angelo Marino Litho. I read all about that forgery ring !

That's proof enough. If you hear that name in association with anything
hobby-related, run away and don't waste another second of your time!

The M's don't look right, and I am not sure if Mantle would put "No. 7" down.

Mike, your question "What do you look for?" is a loaded question. There are many variations of "The Mick's" autograph as there are many variations of Derek Jeter's autograph.

It takes a lot of time to gain knowledge of certain signatures/autographs, Mike, and I believe the majority of the members here will agree with me on that.

It is almost certainly a forgery and a common forge style seen on eBay in the past.

There are a number of issues with it, but the almost perfectly vertical strokes in the loop under the Ms is a dead giveaway.

Here is an image from the Operation Bullpen book site. You can see the similarities in the strokes of the M:

And, if it came through Angelo Marino... that in and of itself is enough to be certain it is a fake.

Sorry.

Marino, sadly means bad. I still am going to buy "operation bullpen" myself too. I don't buy many sigs, but am fascinated with gaining knowledge in all areas of the hobby, and this is one of the most critical.
