We recently took a week long trip and I put my cards in our home safe. This is the first time I have done this. They are usually left in a box in the closet. All cards $50+ are in Pro Mold One Touch holders (or one screw if It requires a specific year model). The lesser value cards are in penny sleeves/top loader. There were set in there loose (not in the box I usually keep them in) The top loaders were fine, however, there were a few of the One Touch cards that appeared to be warping/bending. I removed them (10 or so) and sure enough they were arched. I've since placed them in penny sleeves and under a heavy book. They are all fine now. Is this due to moisture?? Does anyone use the Silica packs to combat this??? It was alarming to say the least!

I know others that have safes in their basements (where their is somtimes moisture) and they do use silica to combat moisture. Is your safe in a room with high moisture, like a basement? You could also try putting them in ziploc bags (which some do for safe deposit boxes) or, depending on how big your safe is, a plastic container that's airtight.

I had this same problem. Never solved it. Anything paper-like would always seem to be holding moisture. I never even put my cards in there. It has basically become a bookshelf because it sits there with the door always open. My wife says it will be my coffin so we can get some real use out of it.

It is in my closet (where I keep them in the box normally). I may try some beaters in there with the Silica packs to see if it does any good. Good news- the wife has a lot of shoes, so we have a lot of Silica packs
![]() I was actually considering a bigger safe so I could put them in an airtigt container, but may reconsider based on the packs. Thanks for the replies |
