Ok I understand cards are small enough to be secured in a safe. Collectors out there with significant value in their sports rooms do you buy insurance specifically for your collectibles? Or does your home owners insurance cover it? Any horror stories of anyone having anything stolen and insurance denying the claim??

I have Chubb's Masterpiece policy that specifically covers collectables. Never had a claim against my collection, thankfully, but utilized my Chubb homeowner’s policy years ago when an upstairs pipe burst (condo) and my kitchen ceiling fell in. Chubb is a little expensive, but from what I've heard, read, and experienced that one time, they don't nickel and dime you on a claim. As for the Masterpiece policy, you do have to itemize your collection. Matter of fact, I spent the good part of yesterday updating my policy for the new year (adding new pieces and taking off those that I sold/traded). I'd highly recommend them.

On a similar topic, given the time spent itemizing my collection yesterday, can anyone suggest a good database? I’ve always used Excel, but it’s gotten to the point where I’d like to add photos and expand on the information kept about each item. I use a Mac and heard mixed reviews about Bento. Downloaded a trial and wasn’t all that impressed with it, but then again, it wasn’t the full version and I didn’t spend too much time on it. Has anyone found Bento useful or have any other suggestions?
