You might want to ask this guy, as this baseball card appreciates in value over time, how does the text on the back manage to update this information? Does it have a tiny computer chip in it that allows it to keep up with price changes?

I wonder if he'll trade me for an autographed copy of Mark Twain's Autobiography that came out last month. It's been out of stock and Barnes and Noble for weeks, so I know it's popular. Twain would have done a store signing, but unfortunately, reports of his demise are accurate at this time...

If this is a joke, this guy might be my new personal hero. But I've got a feeling that he may have been confused for a moment and then realized what he had, and figured "what the hell, maybe someone else will be confused and buy it".
"There were two different Lewis cards. One with a patch on sleeve and one without. This is a rare card and hard to find." should be changed to... "There were three different versions, two real ones, and this POS. I know that there's been a lot of untrustworthy people selling cards on ebay lately, but the cards don't lie. And this one says 1912." Last edited by novakjr; 01-13-2011 at 06:41 AM. |

Back when those cards came out, I believe in the 1990's, a local card shop had them on display with a price tag reflecting the statement on the reverse--they were truly clueless. Reminds of the time I changed location and employers back in 2007 and some of my patients got upset because we didn't change the OLD phone books listings to reflect the new numbers. One nice old lady actually told me that |

This may be the same guy who showed up at the Antiques Roadshow with a copy of the Mona Lisa.

I couldn't help myself, so I told him thanks for the laughs, but it's not real. Here's his response:
"A Laugh is worth a thousand words. Could be you are right, but I did talk to an owner of a card shop and this is what he told me. He said it was the first time he had seen this card and looked it up. We have had this card for over 20 years. Perhaps you can tell me how you know its a reprint." At least he gets points for not getting belligerent like some guys do! He just appears not to understand... Take Care, Geno |

I sent him pics of real T207s and here's what he said (he's yelling now):
THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. WE WILL CHECK INTO THIS FURTHER. KIND OF YOU TO SEND INFO. SOMEONE GAVE US THE WRONG INFO.MAYBE. BUT IF A REPRINT ITS STILL A VALUABLE CARD. Yep, sure is valuable... Cheers, Geno |

I don't normally waste my time, but this one was too much, so I emailed him and asked if he would remove the listing due to it being a reprint and this was his reply :
"Sorry. I was told it was real by a dealer. It is removed. " Hard to believe he is not aware...

I can't even begin to tell you how many calls we received from people over the years with these type of reprint cards. "But on the back it says it is worth $6,000". My reply do you really think they put the value on the back of a card that was printed on the early 1900's, it takes a minute for some but the light does eventually come on.
