Holy crud! If you think the prices were high last weekend on the T207 cards, today's final selling prices for the last half of the cards was staggering. Here are a couple of examples and remember we are not talking about Donlin, Lewis, Lowdermilk, W. Miller or any of the most scarce cards in the set. Cards in the tough back series but not the "biggies" went for unbelievable prices. Wonder if this was an abberation or a sign of things to come for this set?

Looks like the purchaser of the Legendary set made out like a bandit, thanks to (very!!) aggressive bidding from a few interested parties (thankfully I was not one this time).
Purchased for $21K + fees, etc... on 8/5. Total haul from the last two Sundays of sales over $51K for the set. Even after eBay fees et al, that's not bad for 3 weeks effort. Perfect timing. -- Mike |

I'm guilty as one of the big spenders. Was doing some upgrades to my PSA set. Got outgunned for the most part, but was excited to get some tough cards today. For what I can tell, there are less than 10 in existance of some of these cards, if you're looking for a solid Vg-Ex or better. The nicer condition toughies are mostly wrapped up in someone else's set so unless a set gets broken up, you have to live with rough PSA 1's & 2's.
People don't think twice when a T206 sells for $1000, but that rarely happened with T207's until this year. |

That Red Cycle price is crazy. I remember 4 or 5 months ago someone was selling 5 or 6 Red Cycles in the 3-4 grade range that all went for $250-$350 dollars a piece.

I was the underbidder on the Red Cycle Buck Weaver PSA 4. Compared to the prices for some of the more common players, I guess the $1692 selling price on the Weaver was a relative bargain; wish I had bid higher!

Have to agree with both Ron (Bridwell) and Scott (scooter729) on this one.
I too wish I had bid higher. ![]() |

After getting thumped on some Cycle back cards last night, I threw out a bid twice what I was intending to bid, based on sales over the last year, for a Cycle back card and to my chagrin, didn't even get close.
I felt the one card that was a huge bargain was the Pelty and I kick myself for not bidding higher (ouch!) I don't know how high the winning bidder ws prepared to go but that was a steal. The rest, ehh, not so much, although the Weaver Cycle back was a good price and would have been a nice upgrade for my set. I remember a few weeks ago posting that that Legendary set going for 20k was a real steal and I guess it was borne out by the fact the buyer flipped the cards to make a cool 30k profit and he probably still has commons in the set to sell. Wow.... Last edited by tbob; 08-30-2010 at 10:31 AM. |

I wonder if the PSA Registry set guys had something to do with the prices and if the cards would have obtained such high prices if they had been encapsulated in SGC holders

I will just hold onto my raw T207's Red Cycles...for now.

Wow 30k, well probably closer to 25k after fees but what a flip. Flipper heaven. I managed to grab 1 card to upgrade my subset and was the underbidder on the one I really needed but I bid my max, no regrets. |

At $50 final fee maximum per card, we're looking at only total of about $1,000 fees for 200 cards.

Very true, however the final hammer on the "Legendary Live" lot was actually over 25k so that had some juice of about 4k.

I have cracked open a large number of slabbed (PSA. SGC and GAI) T207s including a bunch of Cycle, Broadleaf and Anonymous backs. I like having the set raw and all together. I mention his because with slab cracking and cross-overs that some are doing, the pop reports are off on a number of the "scarce back" cards, because I know I am not the only one doing this. It make sense to slab them come sale time but the raw one sure look nice in sheets together

I think this points out how much work/luck there is in making things work these days. Below is "back of the envelope" with various assumptions and some stuff not accounted for (shipping/ins costs vs his fees), but it looks like
21,000 - Pick up a set at a nice price 4,095 - Pay auction fees ... 19.5%? 0 - Shipping (lets assume local pickup) 11 - eBay Listing fees (w/1st 100 free) 51,732 - Sell on eBay ... woo hoo 3,311 - Pay eBay Final Value fees (using their fee structure) 1,159 - Give Paypal their due (assume that everyone uses PP, and 3% avg) 22,157 - Net before taxes 7,755 - Short term Cap Gains at 35% 14,402 - Take home. Not bad for 3 weeks work. |

Following up on Bob's point about Pelty, there may have been a few other bargains in the mix. Looking only at the Broadleaf class cards, I'd add the following as relative bargains at PSA 3 or better, given rarity and price for the grade.
