Just picked this up. Anyone seen more and have any info? Circa 1880s cyanotype photo printed on silk of a High School baseball team. Image of eleven players and their young mascot. Several bats, gloves, and a catchers mask are also seen in the image. I thought it was neat looking. It's rather large at approx. 11" x 13 1/2"....Note the ball boxes in front....it is much sharper in person.....regards

Only example I've seen. Cyanotypes aren't rare, but I've never seen one on silk or other cloth. Any type of photograph on cloth is very rare.

Very cool item Leon. Why do you think it is 1880s? It appears to be closer to 1900 IMO.

NO reason except it was described that way...If you say circa 1900....I can go with that ![]()

I've only seen one other baseball photo on fabric before....like David said, they are extremely rare.

Cyanotypes in general were popular from the early-mid 1890's though about 1907 or so. I would agree with Dan that it is probably 1900 give or take a few years on either end. Cool piece!

Very neat looking piece.
Any chance this is a modern silk screen print made to look vintage? |

edited to add....I guess there is a tiny chance it could not be real in that I have never handled one before. I did put it under a lighted magnification and it has the correct characteristics you would think of, per the bit of studying I did on the net.
