RIP Boss. You brought joy to New York and misery to her opponents. There will never be another like you. You are already missed.

That's a wonderful photo, Jeff. The expression on his face and pose really sums it all up. The man will most certainly be missed.

So, That's what he'd looked like!.. I just knew him from the back. RIP King George.
Mr. Cushman : Ah, Mr. Steinbrenner, sir. There's someone here I'd like you to meet. This is Mr. Costanza. He's one of the applicants. Mr. Steinbrenner : Nice to meet you. George : Well, I wish I could say the same, but I must say, with all due respect, I find it very hard to see the logic behind some of the moves you have made with this fine organization. In the past twenty years you have caused myself, and the city of New York, a good deal of distress, as we have watched you take our beloved Yankees and reduced them to a laughing stock, all for the glorification of your massive ego! Mr. Steinbrenner : Hire this man! |

Frank Costanza (yelling): What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?!? He had
30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year, he's got a rocket for an arm, you don't know what the hell you're doin'!! Steinbrenner: Well, Buener was a good prospect, no question about it. But my baseball people love Ken Phelps' bat. They kept saying 'Ken Phelps , Ken Phelps'. |

He was a charitable person, no doubt. I'll remember him for that.
But as far as baseball goes, he was a complete ass. When he was held in check by others, his money enabled winning teams. But left to his own devices, he was an unmitigated disaster. And for abandoning Yankee Stadium to its inevitable destruction (after the Boss "borrowed" the parkland, it had to be returned) I cannot forgive him. |

Here's a letter to the Rizzuto's after Phil was honored at the Stadium.
