0 for 1

If the winner of the Complete Set of M101-2 Sporting News Supplements is interested in parting with some of them, myself and a fellow net54 collector would be interested. Even if you won't want to part with any, I'd like to get some info on them when you receive the lot.

thanks!
Rob

p.s. now i can see why REA finishes their auction right after Heritage ... so that the underbidders in Heritage can spend their dough in REA!!!

Double edged sword really....had I won all 4 Uzit lots, I'd be busto for REA. Do I try for a BL460 now, or wait till Aug 2011?

By August 2011 you will have moved on to another hobby anyway (or so I hope) so go for the REA auction!

I won two auctions on Heritage (0-2 on Goodwin). I'm pretty sure I overpaid probably significantly on at least one of the cards, so I'm already getting buyer's remorse. The card in the same grade and back is cheaper on eBay right now. I'm an idiot.

Even though there has been some disagreements on the board
(lately) lets try not to "start" anymore arguments and see how it goes. Pretty please....No need to comment on this request but please try to adhere to it, for everyone's sake.

Default a few things

As stated previously there is really nothing in Heritage or REA that I need, or really even want, for my collection given my focus. That being said I did get a few things for resale. I was surprised the E97 Young in a 40 holder didn't do a little better. The exact same card sold for 1k more last year. Such is timing I guess.......

Jay- Nice pickup on the cabinet. I know at least one other person that had an interest in it too...

Heritage: 0 for two

Goodwin: 3 for twelve, but I didn't get either of the P42's or Hindu So Lgrs

But I can't complain too much because I've had some good pickups in other auctions, BST, and ebay recently

Best Regards and hope everyone has a great REA!

An interesting side note on the 1887 cabinet. For those of you who have read or are reading "Fifty-Nine in "84" (The Hoss Radbourn bio) you will remember that Cyclone Miller is mentioned as having pitched a few games for Providence in 1884. Joe "Cyclone" Miller was on the 1887 Lincoln team and is pictured at left in the top row of the cabinet. Also pictured is Fred Lange, author of a famous work about baseball on the Pacific Coast.

Not a huge E-Card guy only have 30 or so way more T-cards...but I thought these were neat and looked nice. Not sure I got a deal like Jay...as I don't really follow these.

But at least it has the "crazy" eyes Hartsell always liked that card.

Congrats Jay! Do you know if this is the same one that sold in the 1990s in an Oregon Trail auction? Are you aware of any other copies of this cabinet? I'd like to snag one some day, I couldn't afford to go after this one at the moment.

My Titanic bid sunk and my quick jab at Marciano was a knockout after only one round...but the Lord saved me.

Always wanted this player in my collection and, since it's so rare, it was just a dream to own this card in such good shape. I am very pleased and it was a bargain to me. It has a good home for quite some time.

Great pickup Kevin, those cards when found without ink stains are amazing.

The following major leaguers are present:
Dave Rowe
Jake Beckley
Bill Hart
Parke Swartzel
Jim Brown
Joe Herr
Charlie Hoover
Charlie Hall
Tom Dolan
Cyclone Miller

Good images of some of these guys are pretty scarce.

The instigator of those arguments obviously missed the point of Leon's post.

I agree Paul and Wonka. That comment didn't go unnoticed......last warning....to ALL concerned....I am really not taking any sides I just want the bickering to cease. Next one to throw a jab, or veiled innuendo, is going to get a time out. Forewarned is fair-warned, imo......

Speaking of the penalty box, doesn't Bruce get to come back and play with us soon?

I went 0 for 11 in Heritage.

Default M101-2

Won the M101-2 set and am thrilled. I know they have back damage but at $36 per card with BP, it was hard to pass up. Have half the set already but getting the Cobb and Jackson, etc. are exciting. Lost out on the 1916 Brooklyn press pin today unfortunately.

Greg- Yes, Bruce is probably close to being out of the penalty box. Who knows if he will come back. The amount of suspension can be set to almost any length of time. His was 30 days. It's an automatic reenstatement in the system after that time period.

Default Heritage Winnings :

Very happy to snag my first Nashville Vols Cabinet photo after nearly a decade of looking. Possibly a player signature as well on the photo. Tony Tonneman had 1 major league hit (Double) in 5 ab's. He was a solid Minor Leaguer back in the day...

Picked up a couple of cigar box labels w/N28 art on them including Ewing and John L. Sullivan, and a near set of cowboy exhibit cards. Whiffed on the rest, though I did make a valiant run at a Louis-Schmeling II full ticket.

Default Heritage (and Goodwin)

I managed to win the t206 Polar Bear lot in Heritage, and (somewhat surprisingly) won the Magie in the Goodwin auction. I also won the t206 Duffy AB 460 in the latter. Time to write some checks...
