He donated the proceeds for charity, B.A.T.
So I'm sure he's delighted w/ the results

I can't believe there wouldn't be just a bit of sellers remorse but at least it doesn't sound like the decision was made as a necessity. It's always better that way. I don't know those kind of items too well but the prices seemed very strong. He had to be happy about that. There were a lot of phone bidders as well as some in the audience. regards

I looked at the personal collection of William Bendix, and learned that if you are a celebrity you get awards wherever you go. If you stop at a rural rest stop, the nearby town will give you a plaque. Obviously, an Academy Award or MVP Award is something special, but I don't think clearing out the house of awards is as big a deal to a movie star as it is you or I.

I had a medal given to Jackie Robinson from the Platteville Wisconsin Doctors Association (or something on that order). I liked it in part as I'm from Wisconsin, but I'm sure someone from Miami or New York City would think it pretty obscure. Even as someone who had been to the city of Platteville, I found it an obscure award ... The story is Robinson gave a health or social topic speech there and received the medal. One cool thing is the person who bought it from me wrote to the association and they sent him a photo of Robinson receiving the medal.

And for all I know; it may still be sitting in my friend's attic in NJ; the Byron Browne collection of trophies. David is correct; I would wager that almost all major leaguers get some trophies along the way.

I believe the buyers for his stuff was The ownership of the Cardinals so they could display it.
