Default Contacts ?

Now that we cannot tell who individual bidders are we also cannot help other collectors with items we may have that they would be interested in. For example I have seen r***r on many of my items of interest and likely have items he/she could use based on what I percieve to be his/her area of interest. However I have no way of letting them know.

Is it within the rules to ask r***r to contact me if they want to or does anybody else have an idea along these lines? If this is out of line simply delete me. I have no problem letting folks know what I have won or lost.

Thanks

Default it is ok to say

It is ok to say to email you about something, even in another thread. You shouldn't really be making deals in a thread someone else started...but if you take it to private emails there is no harm....also, you shouldn't interfere with a current transaction either....Hope this helps....please email me if you have a specific issue...or put it out here...doesn't really matter to me....

btw you should be able to PM (private message) anyone that is on the board by just clicking on their name

Leon, I think Mark is talking about other bidders on ebay that often compete with him for the same items.

Not real sure I would know if I'm r***r as my bids would always appear as jacklitsch.

Steve

You wouldn't be r****r, as the ebay name always takes two letters from the bidder's name. You can find out your ebay disguise by logging out of ebay, and viewing one of the auctions you won as a guest.

Default One quick and dirty way . . .

.
.
. . . of determining (possibly) an ebay disguise is to note the two characters and feedback value, and then matching those criteria to the buyers identities listed while viewing all of a sellers feedback. Works especially well with those sellers who you know have multiple transactons with your unknown opponent. Of course, it's only effective if the buyer leaves feedback for the seller.

Personally, I keep a log of fellow bidders, which I update quarterly. I had the pleasant surprise of meeting one of them at the last National show in Cleveland. Conversation at a dealer's table led to a discussion about a fairly unusual eBay item I lost out on, while another collector admitted to having won it. He was stunned that I knew his eBay ID. I told him there are not many Orlin Collier single signed baseballs out in the hobby. I was disappointed that the seller ended that particular sale early, especially since both of us had already placed a couple of bids each. And I knew my adversery was as agressive as I was on tough to find items. Always good to know who your competition is.
