Maybe with good behavior he'll only have to do 120...not a sympathetic figure, given how many lives he destroyed..

A statement needed to be made, and they did just that!! It still doesn't help all the innocent victims, but better than nothing at all.

Now they need to figure out who helped him and who stood by when they knew it was going on. I highly doubt he was the only one who knew his entire company was a huge scam.

Every single thread you have started on this main board has not been about vintage baseball cards. You are 7 for 7. Don't start anymore threads on this main board that are not about vintage baseball cards for the next 6 months...An O/T here or there is fine but you should be starting good vintage card threads for the most part, not the other way around.....Nothing personal...thanks

I had not a remote clue that my thread initiations were causing you such heartburn and that they had become so irritating to you. Perhaps had you notified me via PM when I had reached the 5 for 5 plateau or so, I would have gotten the message. That you now choose to slam me with a rather heavy-handed and childish 6 months of "time out" is pretty lame. I'm sure you're familiar with the term "fair warning"...however, it's your board, dictate as you wish.
As I have written in more than one posting, I don't collect what you guys collect, the farthest back I go is 1955, thus I can contribute very little in terms of value to other readers. I have learned much about pre war cards here and it was clearly the best source of informative reading on the topic among other issues. Let us make this easier for you and cause you less aggravation to monitor my postings...please delete my password and registration information. This will clearly eliminate any more grief I cause you on the board. This will be my last post on Net54baseball Nothing personal. |

No need to delete anything...If you wish to not post anymore it's totally your call. I haven't been monitoring JUST your posts......with our new s/w all I, or anyone, have to do is click on someones USER ID to see exactly the threads they have started and the posts they have made. Add that to the fact I get emails about folks posting off topic and there you have it. If I wanted to slam you it wouldn't have been in the manner I posted about. Nothing personal...good bye.

Yes, I have been known to drive people away. Mainly it's folks that don't understand what this chatboard is for. It's really pretty simple. If you want to talk about pre-war baseball cards it's a great place. If you don't then there are a million other chatboards to go to in order to chat about other things. If someone gets upset because they can't continually post off topic threads then so be it. I guess I should have privately emailed first but by doing it on the board it will sometimes let others know the parameters....The rules spell it out.....Otherwise, it's all your fault...

I want to know why the wife gets to keep $2.5 million of "other people's money"? Why weren't all assets seized? I am sure one of the many families destroyed by this guy would appriciate the money.

The wife keeps $2.5 because it would cost about twice that to zero her out in litigation. Pragmatism trumps justice, sometimes.

The way she is used to spending money she will be broke in 8-15 months and then she can do a reality show and try to get more.

But keep in mind that she'll be getting sued left and right...that 2.5 is hardly safe and sound with her.

Can someone tell me the difference between life in prison and 150 years? I suppose if Madoff lived to be 225 years old (or there abouts) he could be out on the street again. Ok, maybe they figure that they combine all of the time of all of the offenses but it just sounds stupid - "sentenced to 150 years in prison". I say, let the carcass rot in the cell for 150 years, then remove it.
He probably screwed more people than John Holmes.

150 years is a hedge against any sudden and drastic advancement in cryonics.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it has something to do with the type of crime you're being sentenced for. Maybe the courts can't impose a life sentence for financial crimes as opposed to imposing a life sentence for murder, so they have to sentence years. Just a guess.

When you go to the federal pen, you serve the time you receive, unlike state pens where you can parole out after serving a certain portion of your sentence, anywhere from 1/6th to 3/4 of your time, depending on which state you are in. So Bernie is SOL and will die in prison unless he is pardoned by a future president (and no I won't open that Pandora's box)
![]() As far as the 2.5 mil Mrs. Bernie is keeping, I thought I read where that money could not be tied in any way to the Ponzi scheme and that was why she got to keep it, at least temporarily. |

150 yr sentence is actually 85% of 150 years; so he has to serve 128 years. A federal life sentence is full life -- he comes out of prison in a bag.
