Aaron of course. You get Aaron and Mays on the same card!

I always liked the Frank Torre "rookie." I even stole the background when I made a 1956 Charlie Grimm.

Lew Burdette is interesting, in that the in action shot shows him
running the bases at home plate |

Has to be the whole bunch of them. In about a year the'll eat up the Yanks. Start with HOFers Aaron, Spahn and Mathews, and near misses Billy Bruton. Players famous from past deeds -- Bobby Thomson, and from past cards -- Andy Pafko --- and deeds to come --Chuck Tanner -- and deeds ongoing -- Gene Conley with the Braves and the Celts. Players with small roles to play -- ask Harvey Haddix who Joe Adcock is -- and larger roles -- That's OUR Ernie Johnson out there, with plenny of fine seats still available. Or great nicknames (Johnny "Yatcha" Logan), ("Saliva Lou" Burdette, from his some town Selva W Va. and his reputation as a wet thrower), and just the ordinary guys (Danny O'Connell, who would die too young), Delmer Wesley Crandell a fine catcher for a lot of years, Bob Buhl, too good to be forgotten, and yet never in anybody's pantheon. And the other Torre, Frank. And if I left anybody out, I apologize. One of the best teams of the decade.

I believe it about time I pick up trying to complete the 1956 topps set again. I'm probably about 100 common and minor stars short, but it sure will be fun!!!
Thanks for the thread of inspiration!! |

Del Crandell: Perfectly blocking the plate. That is how it is done.
