| Being nosy: what happened to the Skydash find?

I notice his name from time to time- I remember being on the board watching the situation unfold. I remember when he found the Thorpe, and I remember the auction when it was sold. I also remember mentions of other high end cards from other sets, but I don't know what happened to them- have they been sold privately? Are they coming up for auction anytime soon? I understand that Skydash wants to preserve his privacy, and I respect that, but that find is astounding and I'm wondering what happened to the rectangular cards as opposed to the circular ones. Any information is appreciated. |

And if anyone could point those of us unfamiliar with the Skydash story to an old thread link or give us a brief history it would be appreciated.

The cards were all sold through one of the major auciton houses last year. Great collection and great story. James G |

I never saw that thread. There aren't a lot of pics left on that link. Interesting read.

All or most of his cards have "Skydash Collection" printed on the SGC label, so you will see them in the marketplace from time to time.

| Mastro Auctions

It was Mastro Auctions that sold them. I remember speaking with Doug about them.....I think there was some serious posturing to try to get those as a consignment...

Here was the original thread from August of 2007. (Some were skeptical, to say the least. The skeptics were all wrong on this one.) http://www.network54.com/Forum/15365...nest+appraiser And here is the link to his photobucket account: http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x291/skydash55/ Last edited by Jim VB; 05-05-2009 at 10:11 AM. |

The night the Skydash collection came to the board, was a lot of fun. I stayed with it all night, and thoroughly enjoyed reading over those couple of days. It was was my favorite memory from Network 54. I highly recommend reading it to those who missed it.

A collector friend spoke to him personally before he decided to consign with Mastro. The story was legitimate. I understand he was going to use the proceeds from the sale to pay for family medical needs.
