| 1906 Fan Craze question

Posted By: Marty Ogelvie Were these cards from a card game?? I found a Wagner on eBay http://tinyurl.com/5gwnmq and noticed it had a high grade but that 2 more were graded even higher (9)! It seems to me that if these cards were part of a card game, they would be worse for wear but to have this many graded so HIGH makes me wonder what these cards are made of? Acylic? martyOgelvie nyyankeecards.com |

Posted By: Marty Ogelvie I thought they had to but was not sure and I hadn't seen anything to confirm. Are the cards made from a thicker card stock?? |

| 1906 Fan Craze question

Posted By: leon They are made out of stock that is similar, in thickness, to modern playing cards...maybe a little thicker. The reason there are so many high grade ones is that there have been several new "decks" of them found. Complete games in new condition....There was a set on ebay a few years ago that a board member bought. They came back 8's, 9's and many 10's.....He got them slabbed, registered on PSA Registry and sold them for quite a bit in auction....These cards are the most prevelent to find in high grade of any other pre war vintage cards....and also the most affordable, relatively speaking (obviously). |

Posted By: leon I don't care for some of the hype with sellers either. They say it's one of Wagner's rarest cards with only 17 graded.....Pesonally, from experience, I would say this is one of his more common pre-war Wagner cards.... |

Posted By: Matt IMO the fact that the corners are round also helps a lot with the grades on these issues. |

Posted By: Marty Ogelvie Leon, the ability of a great salesman is to hype something without it sounding like HYPE. Which is exactly why I am no salesman. I have just as hard a time dishing out BS as I do swallowing it! Matt, Yes.. that makes sense now that I think of it.. round corners would definately ease the grading. martyOgelvie nyyankeecards.com |

Posted By: leon As a career salesperson I agree with you. I don't like to be "sold" and I can smell it 2 miles away. Give me the facts and let me make my own mind up. Giving misleading facts, as this seller does (imo) only drives me away. |

| 1906 Fan Craze question

Posted By: leon I got an email from an interested party about this particular card up for auction. Though in my brain housing group I wouldn't really consider it scarce or rare, the facts seem to point out a different scenario. I never mind saying I made a mistake...so on this one, with the sets as listed below, I made a mistake....the Fan Craze could in fact be considered scarce....Here are PSA pop's I was given for Wags in these sets. |

Posted By: barrysloate Leon- I think NL Fan Craze is a little harder than the AL set, but that would not be the Wagner I would guess had the lowest pop. |
