I've recently started working on a 1970 Kellogg's Baseball and a 1973 Kellogg's All-Time Greats sets and have found grading to be all over the place. My assumption going in was that any card that showed an imperfection (crack, surface scratch and of course a crease) would be graded at VG at best. In buying cards off of Ebay what people call as MINT certainly leaves me baffled, that is they can contain any or all of the above. I certainly understand people overstating grades but I've also purchased two PSA 8's and both show cracks in the card surface. The cracks stay within the border (don't enter the picture) but they are visible without any magnification assistance. Can anyone provide some insight? |

I just bought a couple 1970 Kelloggs listed as MINT and they both had cracks in the border. I let the seller know they could only be EX at best. It seems everyone has a different opinion. For me if it has a crack it can be no better than EX. That is pretty bad if something graded an 8 has any cracks IMO. They sure are nice cards and some of my favorites. Good luck with your set !!!! |

Is it possible on the PSA 8's with small cracks, that the cracks came after they were slabbed? |

The only set I ever started and then stopped was the 71 Kelloggs set. The cracks drove me nuts. I could easily see how a graded card could develop a crack after slabbing especially if there was a slight curl to the cards. |

The worse Kellogg set is the 1975 set. This set is very hard to find without cracks. In fact I think it is the toughest of all the Kellogg's set to find expecially in top condition. I once had a few sets and when I went to look at them they all developed cracks. I was very disappointed after buying them without cracks. |

The highest grade PSA will give a cracked card is a 3, assuming they see the crack. |
