Looking for any vintage pre 40's Filipino baseball items. These could be postcards, team photos, or uniforms. A uniform may have the name CEBU on the chest. Would love to see what you have. Will buy or trade. Thanks again. |

Ricky, just curious about your collecting. I spent a good deal of time in the Philippines (1995-96) in North Luzon (Manila and Baguio area) right after playing baseball in high school. I had expected to see baseball over there but never once saw anyone playing the game. Once I could speak the language fluently I started asking around and it seemed nobody cared about baseball at all, only Basketball. I have a special spot in my heart for the Philippines and was excited to get an Arlie Pond signature last month since he was the only American Baseball player to give up the game and go fight in the Spanish American War and afterwards he became a Philippine hero and died in Cebu in 1931. |

Interesting information. I looked up his bio online and what a neat story. My main focus in collecting are vintage baseball equipment and trophies. The Filipino collectibles are just something I try to acquire as I go. My interest stems from my grandfather who was from llocos norte, philippines. He left in his teens by himself and came to the U.S. He never played ball, but was a big influence in my life. I guess collecting these items are in a way remembering his heritage/homeland's pastimes. I do have another photo other than the commonly seen postcard shown above if you are interested. I can send you copies of both if you would like that as well. Email me at my address. Thanks again......................RBD |

The rabbit hole gets deeper. Will also consider Bobby Balcena items. First Filipino to play in the majors. Also played in the PCL and was a part of the 1955 PCL champs Seattle Rainiers. |
