Can anyone tell me which year Sears sold the Ted Williams Shot gun shells ? I found a complete box of mint shells today, and just like to pin down the year. My guess would be 51 or 52. But I know there are Williams fans who know much more than I do about him. I guess shipping them to someone through the mail is out of the question. |

1960's...I don't think you're allowed to send shotgun shells through the mail..Does the box picture Williams? If not then the box is not worth a whole lot <$20 in most cases. |

I was being sarcastic when I mentioned sending them through the mail. But....OK. So Ted did have ongoing endorsements in the 60's? I have one of his fishing reels, and I was under the impression they came out in the early 50's. Am I correct in that assumption? |

Mike, the endorsements for hunting and fishing were in the 1960's for Williams. Just google "Ted Williams Sears" and you will get more information. Also check ebay there are items out there now for Ted Williams Sears items. |

Thanks much Joe. I usually don't purchase such cheesy things, but since I had a Williams fishing reel, I thought, what the heck, I will pick up the shells also. I only paid $100. I got them from a nationally known dealer, who has had them laying in his office for years. Actually I didn't even pay for them, as we barter and trade for services. So anyway, it looks interesting in my curio. Are boxes of these things common? And is the fishing reel and box common? |

None of the Ted Williams Sears endorsed items are worth a whole lot. None of it is rare as it was sold in Sears stores and catalogs throughout the 1960's....I still run across many different items at auctions and garage sales. I did pick up a Ted Williams Boat Motor a couple of months back...not really something I'd display in my baseball room....I have a Ted Williams croquet set in my baseball room because it actually has a picture of Ted on it. |

Thanks much Dan...I just picked up the couple Williams items because they were cheap and quirky. I knew they were not worth much. I do community presentations on baseball history and memorabilia, and the general public knows nothing about rarity, and they find these kinds of things to be interesting. A box of shotgun shells is more fun for them than a Grade 5 T207 Buck Weaver card. As an example. Thanks to all for the added info concerning this issue. |

I'm sorry, but the shotgun shells and croquet set have nothing on these: |

By virtue of the fact that I am in the forum, means that I obviously love pre war items, but I must confess, that the thought of seeing Ted Williams at a moment like that, would not be necessary, in any way, shape, or form. It would have been much worse if Ted had authorized them. If he had, I would not have bought the sporting good items, that you can be sure of. |

I see those every so often on ebay. I wonder what Ted thought about those?...you know someone had to show him those at some point. |
