A great show for me and some interesting "walk-ins" shown below.

The big highlight of this show for me was meeting Keith Thompson (Net54 reader), whose great-Uncle was "Big Sam"
Thompson. Keith talked about Big Sam, 19th Century baseball, and BB card collecting with me for about an hour (or
so) at my booth. Keith's BB card collecting goes back to the Goudey era. Experiences like this are what makes "live
shows" great. You don't get this kind of stuff on ebay.

Picked up this 1946 Dodgers Team Picture Pack featuring Reading Native Carl Furillo in his rookie season:




Also picked up a real cool 1923-24 Nacionales card of Pelayo Chacon (Negro Leager and father of Elio Chacon) from Dan McKee. It's at SGC right now.

Does anybody know if they plan on moving the show back to the Philadelphia area. I went to the 1st Reading show and was disapointed. It takes me at least an hour more and I felt the vintage material was not as good. CN

Yes, I thought so, too....until I got it back from SGC. They spotted "altering" on the right border; so, I did not have them
encapsulate it.

Otherwise, it's a rich-looking card. Fortunately, I traded T206 commons for it, and not "Presidents". I am tempted to start
an all-Sweet Caporal set with this CYoung card....since I have 100+ Sweet Caps. With a Sweet Cap. set you do not have
to worry about the Joe Doyle error, Magie, the 48 - Southern Leaguers, Lundgren (Cubs), and Demmitt and O'Hara (their
St. Louis guys).

It appears that Reading will be the location for 1 more show in September and then will return to the Fort Washington Area.

Good news about the re-re-relocation of the show. The Reading Expo Center is a decent venue, but for me (coming from Central NJ), getting there is a real battle. I missed this show, but the last two trips involved a huge traffic jam on 78 in NJ and stop and go traffic all along 222 between Kutztown and Reading. I feel I have a better chance with the NJ and Penna. Turnpikes.

I went that way the first time and regretted it. I found going on Rt 78 all the way to Route 61 South, going a little further west, and then getting to Route 12 East was the fastest way.

And, don't forget Plank.

That's what was great about the Sovereign set....none of the "big 6" or the So. Lgers.

I'd have to really think hard about a Sweet Cap set....too many Factory #'s to deal with.

Great show. Was nice to see Ted's and Dan's sets. Still looking for the elusive Drum Evers. Met lots of nice people: Mike P, Tim, Ken Cohen, Joe D, T-Rex, Gary, Cy, Mike S, Bagger, Brian Dec, Tom, Whayne, Peter, Wild Duck, Counsin Bruce, and the Bacardi Bandit.

Ken Cohen gets my vote for best sense of humor for the show. Several one liners that were very funny.

Look forward to the next show.

We had a nice time at the Show, it's always great talking with you, since I always have printing questions for you.

Sweet Caporal backs doesn't excite me too much, either. So, I have to give this some serious consideration....

I do have a Cobb, Lajoie, Matty and Young....another dozen HOFer's....and about 85 commons to start with.

Barry....I do not need Wagner.....if I limit my Sweet Caporal set to just the Factory #30 cards. Wagner only exists with
Sweet Cap 150/25 (or Piedmont 150/25).

My Reading show "walk-in" CYoung (portrait) is a SC 150/30....therefore, that's the back I would focus on. Furthermore,
the Sweet Cap 460/30 back is not available on the 55 cards in the 350/460 series, which means a complete "master set"
should be no more than 470 different cards.

And, the only challenge that I see in doing this set is the Plank with the SC 350 Fac.# 30 back.

You can always tailor the set as you wish. And I bet if you start it you will finish in less than a year.

Ted,

I hope you try for a Sweet Caporal set since it will contribute invaluably to the T206 knowledge base.

To add to the challenge--not that you need an added challenge--you could build a complete set of SC 150/649s (about 35 different fronts) and/or SC 460/30s (54 different fronts).

Good luck as you inch your way toward the first documented T206 superset!

You almost have me persuaded.

My stock of Sweet Cap. Fac #30 cards includes blue Chase, red Cobb, Eddie Collins, Evers (yel sky), Keeler,
Lajoie, Matty (wh cap), Matty (dk cap), Tinker, Walsh, Willis, and CYoung.
Approx. 80+ commons, including toughies....Burch (bat), Joe Doyle, L. Doyle (throw), Reulbach, and Schulte.

Anyhow, unless I come across a substantial find of Sweet Caps, I am not going be able to complete this run
as fast as I did the Piedmont or the Sovereign sets.

Incidently, I have quite a few of the SC 150/649 cards. They are not that difficult to find.
