i was going through the auction, is it me, or does it seem light on content? i also noticed there is 1 lot of the remaining Lionel Carter collection. Amazing to see a collection, i guess, 50,000 cards come to an unceremonius end. They did throw in a 1914 Matty sgc 40 to spice it up. I know this is the smaller auction, but it feels different than the others in the past. |

I haven't gone through it completely but my initial reaction was that it is pretty light on quality material and quite candidly below what I consider Mastro's standards to be. In other words, just run of the mill stuff one might expect to see at a lesser house. |

In other words....material that us mere drones could afford? |

For me it would be the auction of a lifetime, but I guess everything is relative. |

I think Mastro has designed this auction to be for the run-of-the-mill collector and I applaud their efforts. There are still some nice cards, just not the great pre-war stuff we are used to seeing. I would be ecstatic if everyone here ignored the aution as there are several cards I am interested in buying |

Compared to mastro's previous collector's auctions, I agree - this auction is very light in content. |

Sorry, Tbob, this auction is unlikely to be ignored by us run-of-the mill collectors. |

I told Mastro they needed to have 3rd type of auction for a poor slob like me MUCH lower end than "Premier" & "Classic". Maybe they listened & this is it ? |

I think the last few "collectors" auctions have been too high end. From what the Mastro folks told me at Hollywood Park, the classic auction is supposed to be for stuff that is worth at least $500 a lot, while the regular auction is for stuff they estimate to be worth at least $1000 a lot. I hope this is a trend on their part towards offering more modest items that more collectors can afford and towards breaking up "dealer" lots and offering them directly to collectors. I think that sort of focus would be better for the consignors too, since it would take some items out of large group dealer-type lots and make them accessible directly to collectors who will presumably pay retail for the items. |

$1000 a lot, huh? Wish I could find some of those in the last auction... |

The stretch they make on at least two lots in this auction made me throw up in my mouth a little. |
