Should we be doing something special to commemorate today's 50th anniversary of the last MLB game played in Brooklyn? Only 6702 people watched Brooklyn play the Pirates that night. Danny McDevitt pitched a 5 hit shutout for the Dodgers.

The most exciting game that I was ever at, was in this little "bandbox" in Brooklyn in 1951......
exactly 56 years ago this week.
The Giants beat the Dodgers in a come from behind rally in the 9th inning......2-1. The best
part of it all was the Umpire's changed call at home plate. First, he gave the OUT sign, then
switched to a SAFE call. Campy must of dropped the ball. All BEDLAM broke lose in BROOKLYN.

Well, I thought about that. (Notice the OT notation.) But after 139 nasty posts debating the relative merits of high grade v. nauseating T206's, and 109 more posts concerning one fool's attacking emails, I thought I'd throw in a change of pace.

Although Ted frequents the post-war board, Barry rarely does. Seeing as how the anniversary is today, and I didn't want to send them direct emails, I took a shot and posted here.

The history of the Brooklyn Dodgers IS mostly pre-war since they played 58 years "pre-war" (1884-1941), 5 years "war" (1941-1945) and only 12 years "post-war" (1946-1957). The actual year of the move is but a blip in their history.

Truly sorry if you were offended by the post.
