Okay...just picked up my second gray with stats this week and looking at the back of the card again, I wondered about the stats...then I realized they were not pitcher's statistics. They were for a batter...then I remembered that the t205 Moran's stray line of type comes from the Mattern bio so I wondered if the stats for Gray were from someone else. First I checked my Baseball Almanac to see stats for Gray. In 1910 Gray was only in 34 games, not the 80 listed. So now I knew they were not Gray's stats. Next, I pulled out my T205 set (love saying that!) and started checking backs. Eventually I found one that matched. In fact, it is the only one in the set that matches the stats for 1910. The player is Phelps. I know the scans are not the best but here they are. Just a little more T205 research for you all to ponder. |

One more interesting fact about this set. Nice pick up of a very tough card to get in any condition. |

WOW! It's not just a Dolly gray with stats - it's a Dolly Gray w/ Stray line! Mine came back graded SGC "a" and i can't tell why... glad I have one though! |

Hey Joshua- that was a great find. Perhaps after they posted the wrong stats, they simply removed them from a future print run. |

I always appreciate absolutely useless information that, and I like it even more when someone else does the legwork to find it. Thanks for the info....very interesting. |

Hey Barry, I was thinking that MAYBE it would have been an SGC20 - I have had cards with tobacco staining get pretty good grades- I might crack and resubmit- I HATE doing that as it messes up the population report, but I would rather have any grade than NOT have one - Strange that noone else had ever noticed this, Shawn? you around? what do you think? |

Russ- they didn't give you any explanation for the grade? It was badly stained, but otherwise looked perfectly normal. |
