Default e92 wagner difficulty

The past few E92 Dockman Honus Wagners that I have seen for sale on Ebay were the throwing style. More often than not in the seller's description it states..."Throwing variation, the more difficult of the two Wagners from the set." This is there no matter the condition, so they are not referring to the idea that one is harder to find in better condition than the other.

On PSA's site they show the following info for total amount submitted.
These totals are all E92's not just Dockman.

Batting-29
Throwing- 37

Unfortunately SGC does not differentiate between the two styles on their pop report, which I have told them about a couple times and it hasn't changed.

So, going by this data, the throwing is more prevalent than the batting.

I was just curious to see if any of you have found one to be easier or harder than the other to find or if the statements mentioned above about "the more difficult one" are just useless fodder to get people to bid more. One just ended yesterday on Ebay with this type of wording.

There is a lot of misinformation still out there, and while I too thought that Wagner throwing poses as a rule were tougher than batting poses, the numbers seem to prove otherwise.

I do think that the E102 throwing pose is considered much scarcer, as well as some of the other candy issues.

Edited to say I think you are right. They all look the same to me

Barry - I believe you are thinking of E102.

I agree that it seems like there are more throwing variations in the Dockman set as well as the other e92 sets. As stated above, the e102 throwing variation is much more difficelt to find than the batting. I am not an e90-1 collector, but I believe the throwing variation is considered to be tougher in that set as well as in the e105 set. So, maybe e92s are the exception to the rule. Just a guess.

i think there are more throwing variation in the e93 and e98 set also.

on most of these the sample size is not enough to make an opinion either way, although we can agree on e102 and e105. i've seen equal amount when they do come up in the e101/e106.

one other note is there an e92 cocoa wagner batting? the last 3-5 i've seen have been the throwing version. i don't remember the last batting being offered although in my old age my memory is starting to fade.

There is a batting crofts cocoa, but PSA has accepted 0 submissions on this card, and SGC doesn't differentiate between the two and has only 4 submissions for cocoa Wagners.

From what I see so far, the throwing IS a tougher variation in a couple other sets with the similar card fronts. Maybe people just think it is that way across the board.

While we are on E92's, What is the toughest card (s) to find in the set?

For me, it has been the Seigle horizontal pose. Beautiful picture by the way.

Personally, I have seen more throwing versions then batting of the e92 wagner. Received my e92 Dockman back from PSA recently, it has a mechanical error. I will have to send it back to get it corrected.

Another sloppy PSA label. Where is their quality control?
