Question about E120 cards

Hi, I have a question on the E120 cards. I only have a handful of them, but one I have is a much obviously darker color. I know the NL cards are blueish tint and the AL a brownish tint.

But one of my NL cards is far far darker blue (Toney card below), especially the paper color. All of my other NL cards have blue print on a almost white paper stock (like Myers below).

Is this normal?? Does anyone else have these darker blue cards like the Toney?

Thanks for all the help, I never own many of the E120 cards and when I picked up the Toney it was just so different than the few I owned, I guess I just got a batch of lighter colored ones. Looking around since then I see they do vary in color a bit. Learn something new every day

The one on the right looks very blue to me. Bluer than blue. And sadder than sad. (hahaha. Sorry - I about cracked myself up with that one.)

But seriously - I don't pay that much attention to AL/NL differences in general b/c I focus on Detroit players, but that one on the right just looks bluer than any E120 I can think of offhand.

They are both E120's with team checklist on back, same thin card stock, etc.

The Myer isnt a W573 card (gray/white), I have plenty of W573s including uncut strips.

I did a search (Google Images) and I found that some E120 NL cards are a bit bluer than others. I just think the card stock color varried a bit and I got one that is very blue.

I only have 8 NL cards and 7 are like the Myers in color.


Interested to know what rough % of the NL cards are the darker blue color. If anyone has a complete set or large group Id be interested to know.

Hello Frank,

I have 11 NL E120s, and all are blue ink on blue paper, like your Toney (who was a very good pitcher, by the way). I have no white looking NL E120s. My NL E120s have blue ink on the back, too.

My W573s look white like that, but they are blank backed, and you say that your white E120s have the team listing, so they aren't the W cards.

What color ink is on the back of the white NL cards???

I looked in Mr. Lipset's vol 2, and he describes teh color as green or turquoise... Mine look kinda blue, maybe that is an aging thing.

Mr. Lipset mentions V61 cards, numbered Neilson's Chocolate cards.

I'd like other folks to describe their NL E120s...
