My Hall cabinet card

Hello,

Here is a scan of the only Hall cabinet card that I have. It is of the S S Etruria. This vessel once held the speed record for fastest crossing of the Atlantic. The interesting thing about this cabinet photo is, there is another photo underneath but I can not tell what the subject matter is. There is only a small sliver that can be seen below the lower right edge of the Etruria photo.

The back of the card is brown, has the Joseph Hall advertisement and lists 111 Fulton Street as the address.

It's not uncommon to find one photo glued onto another, and David may be on to something: the one underneath it may be of more interest. It's a long shot, but a paper conservator could lift a part and reglue it without doing damage. Of course, you would have to pay him and it could also be a another photo of the same boat.

I figured this thread was more in line than the Show and Tell thread.

The picture on the front of the cabinet posted in the other thread is a ball player in street clothes.

It's always great to read about business addresses of these "known" photographers. It's nice that you can date things by knowing that a person conducted at business at a certain address during a certain time frame over 100 years ago!

That happens to be the rookie card for the Etruria. Nice find.

This photo shows the actual ship on which my great-grandparents emigrated from Norway in 1882. No smokers, jocks or card collectors in the family.

but one of the last photos I sold was this ocean view Polaroid
of Bridgett Hall who lives in Brooklyn.
