I think there was a recent post about these but everyone please be careful. You can email me for a scan of a few of these. They are about 7 X 9 and have green print on them. These are very deceiving and have been recently printed and aged to look old. I wanted to send one to David Rudd to see but I am fighting to get my money back. I even wrote the seller ahead of time and they said they would give a return less shipping so I thought I was safe. Seller won't write me back and will not sign for the returned item that is sitting at their post office. I also need current links to the internet fraud site and the FBI internet fraud division. Thank you, Dan. |

A lot of this fake memorabilia seems to be coming from the southern states around Georgia, South Carolina, et cetera. Recently a bunch of "Fan for a Fan" started showing up on ebay along with some fake Stall and Dean Ty Cobb counter displays. I would also question the Coca Cola advertising pieces that started showing up around the same time. |

Fans in general are being knocked off with evil intent. I bought a nice looking fan at auction, nice looking until I owned it. It's an easy thing to repro. Christ, I hope we don't have to start authenticating fans! |

I saw one of these Bresnahan Tuxedo ads in an antique shop in New Bedford, MA about 2 years back, which I assumed was a reproduction. The dealer is based out of Buzzards Bay, MA and he does sell on ebay as well. |

It could be helpfull for a lot of us if there was a running thread where people could post links to possibly dubious material they spot on Ebay. If there was some way to keep a running list of fakes and sellers to avoid, it would probably help do a lot of good for the hobby. |

That is exactly how they made them! And they look DAMN GOOD unfortunately. I won't state what gave it away for me but I needed a loop to detect it! Even the paper was fibered and old looking. VERY SCARY! A few came fro Marysville Ohio Tom and the others from Marshall, Michigan which is about 3 driving hours from Marysville. I have filed mail fraud, paypal complaint, and am following up with an FBI report. As someone stated above, too many of these fakes (not just Tuxedo ads) are coming out and are good! Another popular one is the 1938 Goudey advertisement! I had a slime shut down on ebay that was from Indiana that posted about a dozen of "too good to be true" items! ALL FAKE. Be careful guys and gals. Dan. |
