Who buys trimmed cards?

Just curious after reading posts about trimmed cards. How many on this board buy trimmed cards and know they are trimmed. I have some trimmed cards bought years ago before grading and I did not know they were trimmed. I myself don't buy cards that are trimmed if I know in advance.

Does it matter if it is a rare card and you might not see another in a while?
