I corresponded recently with an expert/biographer on Tom Mix and was informed that Mix formed his own amateur baseball team in Hollywood to play against similar teams of other movie stars. It was strictly for members of the movie colony to enjoy themselves, not for charity or other public purposes. The Exhibit card must have come from a candid photo taken at such an event. Also, the studio designation on the card (Fox) dates the card to no later than 1928; Mix moved to another studio in 1928. |
