I recently picked up these two photos of Ty Cobb and Bill Donovan from around 1910 according to whoever wrote on the pictures I guess. I am trying to figure out where the picture was taken but I only have the scoreboard and building(s) in the backround to go by. |

The massive scoreboard in centerfield was one of the chief characteristics of South Side Park in Chicago, home of the White Sox. Here's a postcard with a good view of it. The advertising and layout of the board is slightly different, but size, shape, and location are right. As is the look of the outfield fence. Of course, the flagpole's not in center, but maybe that's artistic license? The card was posted in 1914. |

Not to quibble, BSF, (it's your team and I'm sure you know it much better than I:), but Comiskey opened on July 1st, 1910. There's a big writeup of all the festivities associated with the opening in the Reach Guide for 1911. During the first half of the 1910 season, the White Sox played at South Side Park. FWIW, Detroit visited for a four-game series from 4/30-5/4. |

Duh! Smacks self on head... Thanks guys, I should have been able to figure that out myself. The angle of the photos makes it look like more of barren landscape than it really was. Very cool, thanks again! |

Nice photos. I was going to bid on those, but the bidding got higher than my snipe well before the end of the auction. I believe that this Eddie Collins photo that I've had for a while now came from the same collection. Someone else that posts here has more photos from the same collection. |

Those photographs are fascinating pieces. I collect T206 and T200 cards and would love to obtain a photograph similar to those vintage to the time period. If either of you don't mine me asking, where do you search eBay for them? Do either of you have one you would be willing to sell? Thanks, Ray. |

Lots of clicking around eBay, Ty Cobb searches, view other seller's items, going back to the same sellers who always seem to get cool stuff to sell. But mostly lot of random searching and surfing. |
