Does this seem inflated for anyone or is it just me? |

...I think the price is about right as of now (maybe just a tad high). He's got a nice scan and is alleging that the card should be a 5, because it has no creases. If that card is crease free, then based on the corners alone I'd have to agree with him. I think people are bidding a little high because they are banking on this notion. A PSA 5 Chance Yellow would be worth over $200. |

Throw the "book" if you are using it strictly as a price reference. |

...meant that it is on the high range of expected or acceptable. If someone paid $200 for that card I would not say that they paid too much or that the price was too high. I think on a good day you could get the card for $140 or $150. But it would not surprise me for an ebay auction to get up to $200 for that card, especially when the dealer is saying there are no visible creases. |

yeah i guess, darren, as always a card is what someone is willing to pay for it..... also, i think if the auction closes at 177.50 that's a great price, but b/c it is already that high i expect it to go for a good bit higher. |

I think $200 would be about right for that card. It is a clean portrait. |

If there is one thing that I have learned in my short stint with pre-war cards is that the price guide means nothing. I have seen cards that "book" for $200 go for $400 and the same card then sell for $100. It is all a matter has who sees it for sale and wants it the most. A bidding war has taken cards that "book" low realize a very high price for it. If I want it bad enough I'll pay three times "book" value for it. And now who has the e95 Cicotte that they are willing to sell me for low book |

absolutely, such is the nature of my post (and my business if you've seen any of my posts mentioning it), my question was trying to determine where i should be on price with this card despite what the books say. I've had items up for sale (non-sports) that were exactly the same, and running at the same time, one went for more than 2x what another one did. Of course, if i really wanted the card to the point where price wasn't an issue, i'd just bid on it. |

Does anyone even know this guy? He has a lot of nice cards for sale (52 mantle and mays, t206 matty and chance, ford rookie, etc) but has no prior card purchases or sales in his feedback (at least what can be viewed). Seems a bit odd. |

interesting point josh....kind of unusual that he goes from being a buyer to all of the sudden a seller with a ton of inventory of this type. Perhaps its' his own collection, or perhaps something he got from a relative or such. |

A little paranoid on the board. People are all too eager to jump on sellers for some pretty bizarre reasons. In this case, check his feedback from buyers in July of last year -- all related to the sale of baseball cards. Plus 400+ positive feedbacks. There is really no reason for concern here. |

Im selling a canon ink jet printer as we speak - I guarantee it was not used to create any the cards that I also happen to be selling. |
