The description amused me. BRSZ claims that this is a breeze to authenticate because the signature is near a date stamp. Now I know nothing about Anson's signature but I do know that others in his office would ocassionally sign things for him. Anyone? |

I had a Anson gov' letter. One side was a secretarial signature and the other side was his. |

Question- I'm thinking about buying something from this dealer. Does he sell good material? Anyone had problems with him? You're always taking a leap of faith with these things and I want to cut my odds. |

Do a search by typing in "broadway ricks" on this forum and you can read a bunch of threads regarding BRSZ. |

No idea if the Anson sig is OK or not, but Broadway Rick is not on the up and up. My advise ... avoid like the plague. |

The letter I had was when he was City Clerk or whatever he was for the City of Chicago. The letter was some mundane City business with his secretarial (his named signed by secretary, for those who don't know) signature at bottom. The back had the city clerk date/stamp like this with his real signature and note. A neat thing was the letter was on Anson's personal stationary with his City Clerk seal at top. |

If you're trying to get the autograph of a John Glenn or a Richard Nixon, you can get a signed official Government letter. This will be on the Politician's personal government stationary with his personal or office seal on top. This will only made better if the original mailing envelope accompanies. The envelope will be postmarked and will likely also have the man's seal/return address. You will have to make sure the sig is his, instead of an autopen or a secretarial signature, but you will be confident to certain the letter oiginated from the famous man's office-- which is a lot different than the sig on a baseball or index card that anyone and his sister could have bought at Sears. |

The question I have is, Has anyone seen a letter this old with jet black ink? It looks to me as though it was signed yesterday. And I dont think it looks like his signature, but I would never call myself an autograph expert. |

This does not match the signatures I've seen. The letters are shorter and rounder and the spacing is different. Just my opinion. |

My specialty is prints and photos, and I intentionally don't offer public opinions on the authenticity of autographs. There are others more knowledgeable than I. I can, however, say the date stamp is similar to the one used on mine, and Cap Anson was the City Clerk of Chicago at the date shown. |

Best to stay away from this seller, imo. Very, very poor reputation and has publicly admitted, and found guilty, of shill bidding. You can probably search this board or Google to find out more about "Broadway Rick".. My only deal with him was a horror story many years ago....and I learned....regards |

Agree with Leon. The seller has such a sensationally horrid history (How many people have had their shilling featured in the national news?), some might consider it best to not even glance at his listings. |

BRSZ uses PSA to authenticate his sports autographs. Anyone see a PSA cert for this piece? |

It's driving me nuts. I know I've heard or read it recently, but it seems a little archaic for the last political election...but maybe that's where it's from. |

I wish I had known of this board before I bid on a graded t206 I won from him recently. I checked the sgc holder over pretty good and it didnt appear to be tampered with but since I just found this thread and with all the info that was listed on this seller I am going to triple check. lol I did check the sgc site and there is only 1 card graded by them in that grade. I hate to think I was shilled but I have been around ebay long enough to know it happens all the time. it was sent fast and well packaged and looks great so I count myself lucky after seeing all the info on him. I got shilled back several years ago on a wagner card and it left such a bad taste in my mouth on that particular card when I did research on my own and busted the guy that i sold it and looking back, I wish I hadnt sold it as it was my only graded wagner and the only one psa had ever graded. I learned a lot and I am beter for it and over all my ebay experience has been wonderful. I have a lot to learn and lord willing I will get there one step at a time. Thank you to everyone that is a memeber of this site and has taken the time to help people like me without even knowing it. Just perusing all the threads has been a pleasure so far. |

"signed directly under the date, makes it a breeze to authenticate"...who's opinion was that? there are a lot of items with dates on them but no signature....we should buy them all and sign them, they got to be legit 'cause the date is there, right? what a joke, stay away from them |
