John Cleese this week announced that the British issued a "revocation ofindependence." In so doing he advised the following about baseball:


You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an eventcalled the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls' game called "rounders," which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards orhotdogs.


I've just reached Upper Lower Class. I am now officially a babe magnet for poor chicks.

Anyone whose leader is a beady-eyed heir who has the job only because of who her family is...well, on second thought, I'm not gonna go there But last time I looked, most of Latin America and Japan were as baseball-mad as we are, maybe more so, their best come here and play in the series, and they certainly aren't one country with us...yet.

Much as I love humor and Python, don't mess with my sport. Bad enough I am subjected to idiots rooting for felons, er, Laker fans...

The British PJ Wodehouse wrote quintisentially British stories about quintisentially British people. I was surpised to find out that he was a big baseball fan, I beleive a NY Giants fan.
