The Cubs started selling spring training tickets today. Anyone know when they start selling regular season tickets or how easy tickets are to get? Do they have group ticket sales? Are group tickets sold before individual tickets go on sale? |

I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and have easy access to Cubs tickets. I would be happy to pick some up for the members on here for their visit to the City of Big Shoulders. |

Never too early to talk about the National, which is a mere 6 months and change away. The last few years, we've had the dinner on Thursday night. The Cubs are home on Friday, but it's a 1pm start, unfortunately. |

The wife and I definitely plan on attending. I've already explained to her that in addition to following me around the convention center (carrying my purchases) for a couple of days, attendance at one afternoon game at Wrigley is mandatory. |

Count me in on the friday game, assuming everything works out and I can make the trip this year. |

I haven't firmed up plans yet but I'm about 90% sure I'm going to make the trip to my first "National" this year... If so, I would definately like in on the chance to see a game at Wrigley. |

When my wife, son and I are in Chicago (live in Madison) we always stay at the Hotel Intercontinental on Michigan Ave. Through priceline or expedia you can generally get a room for about $130 (and those are summer/July rates). They have guaranteed parking if you are driving or renting a car, and curbside drop off/pick up right on Mich Ave. |

The Hotel Intercont. is great, and so is the Marriott, next to the Sheraton. For dinner, Shula's is ok, but if you want a real Chicago steak house, I suggest either Morton's or Gibson's. Both require reservations, but treat you right. |

I'll second the recommendation of Gibson's - both the steaks and the service are top-notch. |

Hey, guys, apparently in between the National and the Cubs game, we're going to have to schedule time for Ryan from Cubanbaseballcards to try and beat me up. |

well, I think someone was going to beat me up in Atlantic City, then someone else was going to do the same in Cleveland. Leon also was supposed to get his butt kicked in Cleveland...I think everyone lived though. |

try the Food Network's web site for Chicago restaurant tips. Also Zagat's. Food Network turned me on to the best ice cream I've ever had (and being a fat SOB whose father owned an ice cream store, I know my butter fat) at last year's national in Cleveland. |

I have eaten there, and I have to disagree. But it's been 7 years (you only fool me once when it comes to food), so maybe it's undergone an ownership change. "Star of Siam" may very well be the best Thai in Chicago - it was the first one I ate at, and things did not get much better after that. My eating partners agreed. |

Decent seats will set you back about $100 each for a decent game like the Giants with Bonds. You can go out into the bleachers for about $65 per ticket. I went 2 years ago and had to pay about $125 per seat(and that was a good deal on ebay) for box seats about 40 rows up from first base for a Giants game. It is well worth it, but just to let you guys who are not familiar with Chicago know, the tickets are VERY pricey, and I hear they are going up about 12-15% this year. Buy early because the Giants game will sell out! |

Sounds like food is not a problem in Chicago. Thanks for the info on Cubs tickets. Do they have group sales before individual tickets go on sale? Could we get a block of 20-40 tickets for a Net54 group? If tickets are hard to get, dumping a few extra shouldn't be a problem... |

I am going to my first national in 10 years (since the '95 National in Saint Looie) and looking forward to meeting everyone and going to Wrigley. I don't care how much I have to pay, I am going to Wrigley damnit! (And Fenway also). |

I'd be game for the rooftop too. I've been to a lot of games at Wrigley, but never a rooftop. And it's definately one of those baseball Holy Grail things. |

I have to make sure all of my enemies have forgotten me by June, so I can "safely" attend the Chicago show! Otherwise I will have to dress up as someone I know won't be there...I was thinking of gaining about 80 pounds, dying my hair grey and greasing it down, stooping over and carrying around a binder and a bottle of vodka...I might have to start studying copies of the "New Yorker" from the '60s though or my ruse won't work. |
