No disrespect meant here but maybe Bushing is not answering your emails the same way you seem to ignore ALL of the folks on this board that have asked about your credentials?? When flinging the mud you have (and very interesting mud I might add) you really need to answer the questions asked. If someone asks me about my credentials I tell them. I have a BA degree in General Studies, have a little bit of common sense, and have been addicted (sort of) to collecting vintage cards for about 8 years, which is fairly well known by everyone on this board. I have handled quite a few obscure issues and that is where I get most of my knowledge....and I read a little, but mostly look at pictures |

I agree with Leon. I am relatively new to this MB, but it seems everyone I've talked to or asked for advice is very kind, knowledgable and patient. However, this Robert Planich guy just keeps posting threads bashing the hobby, and ignores everyone else! Maybe that's why nobody gives you the time of day! |

In the absence of Mr. Plancich providing his credentials, I really do have to start wondering if he just has been burned on a piece of memorabilia. That being said, I understand that many of us dabble (some more than dabble) in sports memorabilia but this board is titled...VINTAGE BASEBALL CARDS...Is it just me or is anyone else a little tired of Mr. Plancich whining about these things...it is up to the consumer to educate themselves before they drop $5000 on a glove or a $1 on a ball...I know his intention is to educate but without credentials it is like learning brain surgery from watching T.V. Please, can't we get back to some interesting card discussions... |

Good point Leon, Robert I’m very interested in what your are saying and if your organization C.A.R.D.S can really help our hobby. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would join your rally. But without more info backing up your claims and ideas it’s beginning to sound like you’re the Oliver Stone of the baseball memorabilia hobby. Please fill us in more on where you’re going with this stuff. |

I was initially impressed by some of the details Mr. Plancich provided, but the absence of any response to legitimate questions by members of this Board about his organization, credentials, motives, etc. is becoming quite conspicuous, particularly when we KNOW he is reading the board by the fact that he has posted recently. |

I like the quote from Rick Kohl extolling Bushing's virtues and claiming that it would be a very crooked hobby w/o him. LOL |

So long as he comes through with some information to validate himself, he may be a good thing. He's gonna have to do something about his "bull in a china closet" mentality though if he's to gain some respect in the hobby. |

I don't think his remarks should be discredited just because he might not want to tell us much about himself. I simply take what he posts with a grain of salt--the size of which would go down dramatically if he would offer up some evidence of his credentials. If what he says is true, and some of it appears to be subject to other verification, how much does it matter whether he's a documented expert of some sort or the town drunk? |

I agree. I wasn't really going to post again about it but just because he won't give his credentials or background doesn't mean I will completely discount him. I think the jest of my initial post implied something to that effect too. later |

So he has an agenda like others who post here. At least he is providing us with some interesting information. |

Agreed. Let's not shoot the messenger until what he says is proved to be false. Reading Robert's posts has provided some useful information on the authentication of various types of memorabilia. |

This is the point I think everyone is focusing on. How do we know he is presenting facts? He has been asked to back them up with evidence, but does not respond. I am not calling him a liar or anything, but I would like to know where he gets his information, that's all. |

From what I understand, most of Plancich's glove claims stem from FACTS presented by Rawlings - i.e. the DiMaggio "rookie" glove that wasn't made until 1954, the Koufax no-hitter glove, the Seaver "1969 Mets" glove that wasn't made until 1978, and the 1971 Fergie Jenkins glove (from Fergie himself) that wasn't made until 1988. It is my understanding that date codes and labeling characteristics allowed Rawlings to definitively date these gloves. To me, those are iron clad facts for a number of HUGE errors. |
