I do note that the card is in one of the infamous PSA card condoms, so odds are that even if it was mint at one point, it has bashed around enough in the missized holder to erode it. |

Hard to tell from the scan. In the MHC photo, it looks pretty good. I am not speaking about this card because I would have to see it in person, but in general, all three grading companies overgrade Old Judges. |

It's like a Brooklyn Dodgers cap that's supposed to be game worn and looks like it just came from the maker. |

If PSA says it's a 9, it must be a 9. I would be willing to bet this card didn't have corners that sharp the day it was made. But what do I know. |

...did this "phantom trimmer" not clean up the geometry on all those other cards from the same stash? |

I have no reason to question Brian and I admit I had not seen the other information in your link. But I still believe that even if this particular card is legit, a high percentage of PSA 8 and 9 19th century cards, and well into the 20th, are not. Want to take me up on that bet too |

I won a few of the Old Judge boxing cards from the same batch of cards and they look fine to me. The psa 6 Kilrain I won was downgraded because of two small stains on the back likely from the cigarette packaging otherwise it is nmt/mt. I like to have all of my 19th century cards in SGC slabs and was wondering how much SGC downgrades for these tobacco stains? |

Don't try to find out unless you designate the cards as do not crack open unless it achieves an equivalent grade--SGC hammers cards for stains, rightfully so IMHO--but hammer them it does nonetheless. |

Oh yeah, received the cards Adam. They look great! I highly recommend Adam when it comes to buying, selling or trading. |

That if some people on this board didn't have PSA to b*tch and moan about then half the posts would be gone. |

I got some of the cards from the MHC auction, both baseball and boxing, and there were no problems. The cards were beautiful. |

No bitching involved. Just want to learn more about the issue. I have seen OJ's with better registration and darker colors and want to know why this one got a mint grade. |
