I'm curious if anyone can give me an idea on how hard it is to complete this set. I have several that I have not really paid much attention to and now I have the crazy idea of going for the set. My question is that I see these on Ebay all the time but are there certain cards from this set that are harder to find than others? I'm also curious to find how many others here have this set and found it worthwhile to collect. Any other additional information about this somewhat strange set would be great as well. |

I have collected about 70% of the set but haven't bought a card in a couple of years. Probably time to complete the set. All of these cards are easy to find. Apparently the Dougherty/Lord card is the rarest card, but it is pretty easy to get. I think the Lajoie/Falkenberg card is harder to find. |

(I have one of each (Walsh and Robinson)), as Blacksox cards (have one Cicotte), and don't collect them for their own sakes because all the players look more or less generic. At least Walsh, Jennings and Cicotte don't look like the guys they're supposed to be. Only other thing is: they do NOT make an outfield and infield, all neatly matching, when you stand them up in any order. |

The t201 set is a piece of cake. I completed 3 sets over the yeras. The Dougherty/Lord is supposed to be tough, but I never had trouble fiding one. NEver had trouble with Lajoie/Falkenberg either. Speaker/Gardner is the one that was almost always one of the last card I needed, but not so hard as to make it notable. It's great set for somene to cut their teeth on. And don't be afraid of "v" cuts. The this is the left and right edges not being cut straight. It appears the cards were first cut horizontally, then folded over and then cut vertically. This "v" cut is normal for the set. |

I too had heard that if you could get the sequence right, the set would form a panorama. It sounded really nice. It isn't accurate. I purchased a very miscut Walsh/Payne and the card next to it is...Walsh/Payne. Big Ed's glove creeps around the other side like he is reaching around a corner in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Looks like they were printed side by side. Up/down I don't know; haven't seen a vertical miscut yet. |

I agree the set looks a little like the comic page in my Sunday paper, but it seems as though by those who have responded that this is a nice set to get my feet wet when it comes to collecting an early set. I guess I'm not looking for anything on a grand scale right now - I just want to say that I have done a set from this era to prove to myself that it can be done on a small budget. Thanks for the information everyone. |

I collect the T201s and I love them. I am down to my last 3. Technically, I started about 10-15 years ago when I purchased the Mathewson/Bridwell from a show in Tyson's Corner, VA. However, I didn't buy my second until last year on ebay. It has been relatively easy (and affordable) to collect in VG/EX grade, although cards in nicer condition are always available. I was extremely lucky to fall into a large "Buy-It-Now" lot (33 cards) about two months ago, which greatly sped up the process. I needed about 12-15 of the cards and upgraded several others. |

The T201 set has got to be the easiest T-Card set to complete. There's only 50 cards and NO variations (that I know of) to worry about. As mentioned several times the so-called "tough" card (Dougherty/Lord) doesn't seem any harder to get than the others. Also as mentioned the somewhat crude characterizations make this set less desirable than others but at least it doesn't repeat the same pictures for the different players as was done with the E91 set. The neat part about the cards is the statistics. This set and the T205 seem to be the precursors to the modern baseball cards. |

T201s were my favorite set (along with T206) when I was first introduced to vintage cards back in the mid to late 70s... |

Took a little time and patience to scan in all of the images and build the animated .gif files but its a nice way to be able to view the set without having to open the cards and put additional wear on them. |
