or so it seems. I have posted here before the general question regarding how these were issued and/or distributed. No one answered. I also asked an EBAY member who sells a lot of vintage cards (including the R312) and he had no idea. Just wondering: does anyone know the background on this issue? There are some great cards in the set including the Dimaggio card. Thanks for any information.

the same could be said for most W-series cards as well. Often the available information is something like "originally sold in strips of 10," but that's it. i just bought an R312 as a type, but haven't received it yet...

I don't know a thing about the distribution, but I think they are very cool cards. I bought six on ebay not too long ago. Not expensive cards.

Not just the 312s.

I picked up a whole bunch of Wide Pen and Fine Pen cards at a show for a few bucks each beause of some scrapbook paper on their backs, and these were all HOFers. Some of the B&W cards are classics: The Ferrell brothers together, McGraw and Mack horsing around, Stengel, the Waners on the shoulders of another player, Dimaggio, Wagner as a coach, etc.

who's been collecting R312's for a LONG time. Unfortunately for him, he's very picky on condition and they're just not hardly ever found above VGEX to EX. Haven't seen any REALLY strong cards. Maybe because of the size and lack of oversized toploaders in the 1930's! Anyway, they are ALL over the place in price. They do have a much better quality to them than the other R premiums from the same time period. I've never really seen anything about distribution but some of them are Goudey premiums although I don't think the 312's are..........maybe Lemke or Lipset or another L could chime in with some info.......

1936 National Chicle Premiums. Advertised on the wrappers of R-327, series 3. Each 'card' was available , at the retail store you purchased your gum at, for fifteen wrappers.

I have several of them, all about 8" x 9.5", cheap like newspaper, some tinted but that may have been done by the owner: Paul Waner, Dean, Gomez, Cochrane, Hafey, Averill, Durocher and Frisch.

Anyone know what they are ? (I don't)

with the signature it looks like a butterfinger premium
