My father picked this bat up for me at sale.I not an expert at dating early bats.Probably a homemade bat. 34 inches long has almost round knob and three rings about 4 inches from barrel end.sorry for the shoty photos I'm not great with the camera. |

Based on the unusual shape of the knob and the taper of the bat plus the presence of the rings, I'd date this bat as likely from the early to mid 1880's, although it might be a bit later in the 1880's. It's a nice example of a home made bat, possibly made by some woodworking company but unmarked (common in those days). Ya got a beaut!! |
