eBay only accepts established auction houses for the Live auctions. For example, Sotheby's has done a few Live Auctions. Typically, the seller will be knowedgeable and experienced with the material. Most Live Auctions don't have a parallel auction like REA or Superior, and there is no 'double juice' charge. Some will have actual on location live bidding at the end, but that doesn't ordinarilly raise any percentage. |

Hi-- I bought one thing in H-C's previous ebay auction, which I guess was their first. Buyers' premium in that auction, at least, was 15% |

I was a bidder today in the Hassinger-Courtney Ebay live auction. I put in a modest bid for a T206 card and won. However, when checking the bidding history I was puzzled: |

The bidding is "absolute", i.e., your bid goes in at the exact amount you entered. This is different than eBay's proxy bidding where you win at the next highest bid increment. The bid history shows each bid increment ($5, in this case) from the second highest bid up to your own. |

It appears like this happened to a lot I won, as the bidding history showed me placing several incremental bids with no competition at the end of the auction, but I however won the lot one bid increment less than the maximum bid I placed. I just read ebay's guidelines to this type of auction, and unless I missed it, 'absolute' bids are not mentioned, and the main differences in the bidding appears to result from the need to accomodate live auction bids. |

I placed several "live" bids today that appeared to register but didn't appear in the bidding list. Only the winning bidder's inceremental raises did. Meaning, I guess, that the "live" bids I placed only registered as pushing up his bid. |
