Wow, competing with both other internet bidders plus bidders on the floor of the auction. Actually the mechanism for bidding and watching the progress of each lot was excellent, but the doggone bids fly fast and furious and you really have to do your homework the day before the auction because there is no time to think once things get going. I bid on a number of T207 card lots and an M116 lot which included matty and Ed Walsh, but got shut out. I was going to try and upgrade some T207s and flip the rest on ebay but the commons which were reasonable were only Vg or VGEXish so not upgrades. Some large lots went fairly high (including a couple of T206 lots which went for about 4x book, amazing) but I am still amazed that people go after HOFers and bid wildly, despite condition. Granted Cicotte and Kling in the 207 set are very, very tough but Chance, Tinker, Bresnahan and Marquard ARE available in nice shape if you are patient. |

Unless you have a very fast connection (DSL, T1, etc.) the live bidding is risky. I put in some absentee bids and just sat back and watched the action. |

I was so busy with the T207s I didn't look that closely at the T206s, that certainly explains it. I did notice that almost all lots at least hit the low end of the estimated value with many going higher. I think the consignor generally did quite well despite the abysmally small scans for muti-card lots. |

Yes, I tried it and won a lot by accident! Lot 27 PSA 8 1957 Topps Basketball card for 250.00... I thought after you hit place bid you would have to confirm it... Not on the live format.... It was fun to try it though.. I was at the last live auction in Atlantic City and got to see the girls in action taking the bets.. I mean bids. Anyone want to buy this card for cost? |

I have a fast DSL connection and was able to get some bids in but not my final bid. I was told it was accepted by the automated service but it didnt register and they closed the auction. I emailed them and they said it was at the descretion of the autioneer and happens in a split second. They can recognize the internet bid or not depending on how much of a hurry they are in. If it is a small valued lot and you are bidding on the internet good luck. |
