I am planning to go down to the National on Friday and was wondering who is planning to attend on that day. I want to make sure I see as many of you people as I can to put a face to a name. |

I'd love to see pictures of you lucky dogs who will be there. I enjoyed the pics last year that were on Pete's website. For the rest of us who have meetings, work or prior engagements, we'll hold down the fort for you on ebay. |

it will probably be just a picture full of them damn entrepenurial right wingers, who pulled themselves up by the bootstraps and made a go of it and got ahead, despite the system's prejudice towards those who want to work hard for themselves. instead of believeing some union president who promises them everything and screws them in the end. and as luck would have it they bid sky high in every baseball card auction! |

Agree with Bob, take pictures. My recommendation is that whomever uses a digital camera instead of a scanner, even if he does have an exension cord. |

I must appologize. I was advised that Elliot doesn't like his picture to be taken, so please take that into consideration. |

I have already advised family and friends that I will be in Cleveland next year for the National. (It IS in Cleveland, right???) Maybe they'll actually hold it at the same time the Indians are at home so I can go to the new stadium and break my ban on attending any baseball game in a park built after 1980 |

I made the trek to the National yesterday and a trek it was indeed. The usual drive time from where I live in Connecticut to Atlantic City should be 2 1/2-3 hours. The drive down took 4 1/2 hours. It was fun to finally see Leon, Scott B. and Tom B. I missed the Wentzes as they were away from their table when I came by and I just missed Elliot and Kevin at Scott's table. In terms of pre-1900 cards the show was horrible. TIK had a nice selection of Old Judge and BMW had some really nice slabbed specimens and Billingsley had a group of skinned cards but other than that there was very little. If the show was not so spread out I probably could have "done" the National in under three hours. To my way of thinking this show was only slightly better than the average Ft Washington show. Besides, if you are just making it a day trip and not planning to stay in the area, Atlantic City is not a good place for a National. It is hard to access via auto and, from what I hear, a pain in the ass to fly into. |
