Mono Tabacco card

I am trying to determine the year and classification of a baseball card of Gene Knapp, Port. Back reads:
"Mono Turkish Blend Cigarettes
200 Portraits selected from Leading Actresses
and Baseball Players
10 for 5 cents"

I believe it was a Pacific League issue but know nothing else. Help appreciated, Thanks p.maya

Nice card to have - extremely rare.

The set is T217 Mono Cigarettes. It was issued in 1910 or 1911. All of the players are PCL minor league players.

The backs say 200 cards but I don't know if all 200 were issued.

According to the 2002 SCD guide only 23 different Baseball players are known (including yours) and 2 have 2 poses making 25 different cards. I don't know how many different actress cards there are.

This is one of those issues where you take what you can get. Anything more than half of a card would go for a hundred bucks or more.

I've seen more t208 Firesides than Monos over the years. The dumbest thing I ever did was sell the 6 t208s I had, but at the time I knew they were rare, I didn't realize just how rare they were. And I had Baker, Barry, Bender, Mack, Plank and Magee

Don't have one yet, Pete. Saw 5 of them go in an auction not too long ago for about $600.00 a piece I believe (3k for the lot)....don't quote me on that but that is about what I remember. They were all creased with rounded corners. If I remember correctly they all had one heavy crease right through the middle, horizontally. I believe I have seen a total of about 8 for sale (including those) in my brief 5 years or so of collecting......great "type" card ...best regards
