I find it interesting that with all the different recognized variations that the T206 Ritchey with and without dove is not recognized?
To me it seems like it has a better argument than some that are recognized. Lee

Love that card, I have an Old Mill with a really strong dove. Are there actual variations on backgrounds that are accepted or are they all just name-related variations?

Isn't it? At one point in my life I was accumulating them with the dove.

Apparently Tom Botticelli and I are NOT the discoverers of this variation lol. We found it a few years ago without realizing it was already a known thing and were keeping it quiet (we're so clever) while we researched. We've been trying to determine back, factory and series relationships to Dove/no Dove. I will say it is CLEARLY a variation and not a print anomaly.

I'm pretty sure Pat has weighed in on this one, but I couldn't find his thread. Here is a pretty cool one though:

I'm not a connoisseur collector of T206 so I'm fairly ignorant to the different varieties/variations of T206 cards.
For this T206 Ritchey, when "dove" is mentioned, my assumption (after looking at a few on line) is the dove is or isn't in the background between Ritchey and his bat and kind of resembles a cloud formation in the shape of a bird/dove. Is that correct? Just another print imperfection? I'm guessing the TPGs don't distinguish between the two (dove, no dove) on the labels. For that matter, do the TPGs make distinctions between any of the different print imperfections that are tracked for T206?

I have a completely different Ritchey variation. The Ritchey on the right has a yellow belt. Also note no birdy in the sky when Claude is putting his yellow fashion forward.
