Since this is supposed to be the forum for new member introductions, i thought i would toss mine out there. I have been an intermittent collector since about 1970 and went through different phases over the last 50+ years. In the early 70s it was bugging my mom at the checkout of the local grocery store to buy me a pack or two of baseball cards to collect and trade with friends. I had about 25 copies of 1971 Topps of some guy named Reggie Jackson who i used to stick in the spokes of my purple Huffy bike with a banana seat so that it would make cool sounds. The most elusive card back then was a Brooks Robinson card that i just couldn't find anyone to trade me. Fast forward to about 1988 after college and 5 years as an officer in the Navy and i had my first real job and extra money to get a subscription to the weekly Sports Collectors Digest and fell into the trap of the Junk Wax craze, but managed to finally complete the 1971 set and replace that beat up Jackson card with something better, though those black edges are tough to keep sharp. By 1992 i was married and collecting went on the back burner again and i eventually sold the 71 set when we needed some vacation money. In 2015 I got back into things in earnest and have been active on both TCDB and COMC trading/selling/buying cards to complete various projects like 1957 and 1961 complete sets which i eventually sold, collecting the new A&G minis (thus the minibbcards handle on TCDB and here), collecting various of the buybacks sets and the occasional T and E cards. My love of minis has always gravitated me to the early cards, but the T206 set while amazing was intimidating and the completist in me knew i would never afford the higher end cards, the T205 set is equally beautiful, but the gold border chipping drove the OCD in me crazy (similar to the 1971 black border chipping above). So I have slowly started the T207 set, small enough to be achievable, but with the short print backs, challenging enough to keep me occupied for years to complete. And the blurb bios on the backs of the cards are entertaining and informative. So those reasons have brought me to Net54, which i always knew about but didn't think I would be in the league of all the advanced collectors here, but am enjoying the forums and hoping to venture into the B/S/T world soon. Sorry for the long winded post, out for now.
