Tuesday Trivia: Worth more than Babe Ruth
In early 1914 an owner/manager of a Minor League team signed a 19 year-old to his first baseball contract. 5 years later, the now 24 year-old would be sold for $100,000, a record at the time.
The following year, the same owner/manager acquired a different player, this time from the Martinsburg Mountaineers in exchange for enough cash to replace their Centerfield Wall. 4 years later, the player would be sold for $100,600 just enough to top the first player's sale amount. Who was the mentioned Minor League owner/manager credited with "discovering" both players and making them into stars? What are the names of the two players?
