Hello all,
Thought I would share these images, for those who might be interested. These are the only cards from my dad that still exist. He was the unfortunate victim of the classic "my mom threw out all my cards." Actually, his went in an ill-advised 1983 garage sale, but oh well. This is one of the albums that you could obtain for the Post/Jello etc. cards from the early 1960s. All of the cards are securely glued onto the album pages. The album has not weathered the ravages of time well, as it is deteriorating. The pages themselves are incredibly fragile. The cover is long gone, and the first page (with the Yankees) is falling apart. You will see in the photos that I have posed the Mantle card where it should go, but it has completely separated from the album page itself. I thought some folks might be interested to see how a 9/10/11 year old kid cut out the cards, glued them into his album, edited a few of the cards, and subbed in some Topps cards here and there as he saw fit. If anyone wants to weigh in on whether or not there is a rarity that I don't know about, feel free! kevin 20220320_205522.jpg 20220320_205535.jpg 20220320_205548.jpg 20220320_205606.jpg 20220320_205618.jpg 20220320_205628.jpg 20220320_205638.jpg 20220320_205650.jpg 20220320_205701.jpg 20220320_205712.jpg 20220320_205725.jpg 20220320_205737.jpg |

The album pages are from the 1963 promotion and were meant to house Jell-O and Post Cereal cards. The Post cereal cards are from all three years of distribution. 1961, 1962 and 1963. The cards with black trim are from 1961. The cards with red and blue trim are from 1962. The yellow trim from 1963. They are all Post Cereal and no Jell-O

Pretty cool piece. I have cards from the same years that I cut from the back of cereal boxes myself. I didn't have the album, but I enjoyed the cards. I also wrote on several of mine - a very common occurrence back then.
I would keep it "as is", protect as much as you can and remember your dad whenever you take it out. Pass it along to any grandchildren if there are any. Attached is a photo of a card that I personally cut from the box. It's pretty rare and have it authenticated just to protect it. Thanks for sharing. |

Thanks for the information, and the kind comments!
I fully intend on leaving it just as it is. At some point I might separate the pages and preserve them individually, just because as an "album" they are no longer really in a condition where I can enjoy them. Just looking at them causes destruction. kevin |

These Post Cereal cards bring back fond memories for those of us who ate lots of cereal just so we could get our moms to buy more boxes.
And as 10 year old kids, we were very inexact in cutting the cards out. Thanks for sharing. |
