A day early, but what the hell...
Just completed this Fred Toney Hippo Vaughan framed project that I have been working on for a while. I'm happy with the way it turned out. ![]() On May 2, 1917 in Chicago, Cincinnati Reds pitcher and Chicago Cubs pitcher James "Hippo" Vaughan squared off in a pitching duel for the ages. For the first and only time in ML baseball, both pitchers hurled 9 innings of no-hit ball. In the 10th inning Hippo Vaughan allowed the first run to score allowing Fred Toney and the Reds to complete the no-hitter and walk away the winner! Here is a Type I photo of Toney's last out trophy ball, the ticket and a few other cool items that commemorated the game. The second I found the photo in 2020, I knew that I would find a way to frame this and get this bad boy up on the wall. ![]() Last edited by Scott Garner; 11-30-2021 at 03:10 PM. |
