I remember seeing a photo of an old timers reunion photo from the late teens that had all nineteenth century players on it. It is not the one from Cleveland in 1921 or the famous one from 1930. This was from the teens and the copy i use to have might have came out of a reach guide. Was wondering if anyone recollects this?
Thanks |

I am away from my books right now but I am pretty sure there is a foldout photo in the Spalding book, America’s National Game that even has the players identified. Book was published 1911. The photo I remember included professional as well as amateur old timers.

I also have a panoramic from an old-timers game played at Braves Field in Boston in 1922, which features many 19th century players (along with others from early 20th century).
Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but thought it might be nice to just share a quick photo.... |

Thanks for sharing Scott! That's killer!
In trying to figure out who the player is in this pic with George Moriarty. My pic is older than yours but can you look to see if any of the players are wearing a uniform with a C on the sleeve? Thanks |

.
I suspect it is former major leaguer Jesse Burkett. I recently saw this same image, with penciil notation on back of photo stating "Dad and Jesse Burket" or something along those lines (with "Dad" being George Moriarity). Possibly in Rhys Yeakley recently ended RMY Auction. Last edited by HexsHeroes; 04-26-2021 at 02:02 PM. |

I have copied below a different image of an Old Timers' game held at Peddock's Island, Massachusetts, on August 12th, 1908. This game included James O'Rourke, Tommy McCarthy, George Wright, Jesse Burkett, Tim Keefe, Billy Hamilton, Candy Cummings, Timothy Murnane, John Morrill, Tommy Bond, Dickey Pearce, Billy Nash, and Charley Ganzel. (The poor quality of the image makes it impossible to ID the players.)

Wow this is great stuff guys! Yeah that foldout from 1908 is exactly what I was thinking of.
Yeah the back of my photo is written by Georges son stating its Burkett but his height and weight just doesnt seem to match up. I wondered if the strange uniform is actually his old uniform. It was a stab in the dark that maybe that uniform could be seen in one of these pre 1920 reunion photos. Can you guys tell in your copy of your photos if anyone is wearing a blank fronted uniform with what looks like a C on both sleeves? |

Jesse Burkett is in my 1922 panoramic as well, though I'm not 100% sure which one he is. I'll see if I can ID him and post a better picture.
Edit: This Christies auction link will show a good zoom on my pic. Mine actually is trimmed a bit on both ends as well, so this will be a better reference than mine to see all of the players. This is a Boston Post newspaper article from the day, detailing the Old Timers game and listing all of the players who appeared: ================================ Baseball stars of the past, coming from all parts of the country, have begun to drift in tor the Boston Post's Old Timers' game, which is to be played at Braves Field tomorrow afternoon starting at 3 o'clock. Others came in during the night and the whole bunch, numbering more than 50, will be on hand before tomorrow noon. The fun at Braves Field will begin about 1:00 with the band concert. There are at least 3 known original surviving photographs of the 1908 Old Timers Game which were taken by Carl J. Horner. Albert Spalding traveled 3000 miles by train from Ca in order to attend the game and had John Morrill of the the New York A. G. Spalding & Bros. store to have a brand new white uniform made up for him to wear in the game. There are also a few surviving score card / programs from the game.

The Addie Joss benefit game in 1911 is probably my favorite panoramic, has almost all the deadball greats in it. Someone had a thread going with the image and I was able to print it on the Target app for like $16 and frame it. Not sure if you’ve seen that photo but it’s fantastic, they had the original at the HOF when I was there in the Fall.
